Scarf Stories: Real People, Real Collections - Introducing Pawel
Framed Silk ScarvesWe’re delighted to introduce Pawel in this week’s Scarf Stories.
We absolutely love his gorgeous styling of Hermès scarves — the hat and scarf combination is so striking, and the way he layers his neck scarf with beads and accessories is pure inspiration.
ABOUT PAWEL
Originally from the small village of Stare Dzieduszyce in Poland, Pawel escaped the constraints of being, in his own words, “the only gay in the village” in what he describes as a very hermetically-minded society. He found love and freedom in England, where he is now a full-time caregiver to his husband.
His growing collection of scarves brings him joy, creative expression, and a sense of escape:
“I’m quite new to collecting and wearing these beautiful scarves, but in just six months I’ve already acquired quite a few — so I suppose I’m still a novice!
For me, scarves offer an escape from my daily struggles. When I put them on, they transport me into a world of wonder and storytelling.”
We feel proud to give Pawel the recognition he deserves — a boost, he says, that has already added to the joy these silk scarves bring him.
PAWEL’S FEATURED SCARVES
Attelage en Arbalète, designed by Françoise de la Perrière (1971) Hermes
The name translates roughly as Crossbow Harness, referring to a specific horse tack arrangement. Its intricate, almost architectural composition of equestrian elements showcases Hermès’ heritage and Perrière’s gift for combining technical precision with timeless elegance — a much-loved classic among collectors.
Stately Wheels, designed by Stuart Patience for Hermes
Pawel chose this scarf for its meaning: “This iconic Hermès piece embodies the essence of powerful beauty and charismatic femininity. The 90 scarf symbolizes the boundless freedom of constantly renewed creation, unlimited emotion and the unique expression of a personal narrative waiting to be written.”
Not long ago, Pawel also purchased his first framed silk scarf, another milestone in his collecting journey:
Grands Fonds in blue, designed for Hermès by Annie Faivre — a shimmering undersea dreamscape, beautifully displayed as art.
THANK YOU
